My baby is officially a toddler! Noah turned one on 1 April 2018 but we held a woodland themed first birthday party for him a week earlier.
On the day of the party, B and I arrived at the location early at 9am to do the set up of the dessert table because I decided to DIY. I started with the backdrop and tassels while B handled the sound system and projector.
Once that was done, out came the props I rented, goody bags, and snacks! Instead of desserts, I decided to display snacks that represent things you can find in the woods. First up, chocolate bear biscuits!
I had some Haribo candy for forest berries.
Cheetos for campfire flames.
And Pretzel sticks for twigs!
I also bought some Ferrero Rocher and labelled them Bear Poop.
Where did all these amazing ideas come from? Pinterest, of course! The snack labels and goody bags were also DIY-ed by me. I have to admit, cutting the shapes for each goody bag is really tiring and time-consuming. I don’t think I would be able to finish if not for my mom helping me!
The set up was done just in time as our family started to arrive at 11am. Then in came the birthday boy, bright and happy because he was home napping (YASSS)! Okay, he doesn’t look very bright and happy in this photo because he was a little overwhelmed with the crowd. But he really was in a good mood!
The first thing he noticed? All those balloons! Noah has a huge love for balloons and squeals whenever he sees them. He kept pointing at them again..
Look at how happy balloons make him!
There was a huge space in front of the dessert table so Noah spent a lot of time there, walking and playing with his cousins who had balloons.
By lunch, guests started to stream in and Noah was showered with love, hugs, and gifts.
We decided to sneak a quick family photo before we got too busy with guests or if Noah got cranky. The dessert table was looking really bare because both cakes and the mini tarts were only scheduled for delivery a little later.
We had a slight hiccup with the cake because Edith Patisserie delivered the two-tiered cake but missed out the other cake and mini tarts. So that explains why certain wood logs were left empty even after the main cake arrived.
But I fell so in love with the two-tiered cake they baked for Noah! Just look at that deer fondant topper with gold antlers!
Despite the hiccup, Edith Patisserie acted quickly and I managed to receive both items in time for cake-cutting. I also received a phone call from them, apologizing for the mix up and the exact steps they were going to take to rectify the situation. Great service and I would definitely get cakes from them again.
Noah started to get tired and cranky so we decided to proceed with cutting the cake. Noah loves it when people clap and sing to him so with all our guests doing that at the same time, he was ecstatic!
Not sure which candle B is blowing out, but okay.
Noah is so blessed! To our guests, thank you so much for showering love and gifts on our boy during the party and for the past year. We apologize if we were not able to speak much to each of you but we were and still are so thankful for your presence and love!
My boy, you’re one now. In just a year, you have brought us so much joy and created some of our happiest memories. You have shown us exactly how full our hearts can be and how much love we can give. You have taught us to laugh through adversity and have given us strength to pull through many difficult times. Years will go by so quickly, just as this year has come and gone. And one day, you’ll not need me the way you do now. But always remember that we are always here with you and that you’ll always have us to run to. Baby, you’re such a blessing and we love you so much. I can’t believe it but baby, you’re a wild one!
